Ecuador Church Mourns Priest Killed in Tragic Crucifix Accident During Mass

Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari passes away at the age of 53, minutes after delivering a sermon when the heavy crucifix detached from the wall and landed straight on him.

In a shocking turn of events, a tragic accident at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Guayaquil, Ecuador has shook the whole world when suddenly a long and heavy crucifix detached from the wall and succumbed the church Father Patricio Sanchez Molinari to death after sustaining several major and serious head injuries.

Just minutes before his death, Father delivered his last sermon at the age of 53 where he discussed how fragile, sensitive and momentary nature of human life is. In his last sermon before death, he quoted “One day all of us here will also die” unaware of the fact , minutes after his death would approach him.

The accident happened on October 17,2026 after half an hour of his evening Mass which was also being live streamed directly for parishioners on the social media. The crucifix depicting Jesus Christ was just placed right behind the altar where the Father was delivering his sermon and being so focused on delivering the sermon and educating people on the spirituality and religious prospects, Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari wasn’t able to notice the danger looming over his head.

Even though immediate medical staff including medical workers and paramedics arrived immediately at the spot to rescue and treat the Father, he didn’t survive because of injuries sustained on head and back. Hence, he died at the scene after the accident took place.

The death of the Father has shaken the entire community into mourning the loss and Archdiocese of Guayaquil held a special memorial Mass led by the metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Guayaquil Cardinal Luis Cabrera in honour of the late Father Patricio Alfredo Sanchez Molinari.
