Dominica: Ashma McDougall leads online survey ahead of Roseau North By-Polls

Roseau, Dominica: Asthma McDougall of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) has been leading from the Roseau North Constituency in an online survey of the Only Polls. The residents from the constituency are set to head to vote on September 7, 2026.

According to the survey, around 142 people have taken part and around 96 people have voted in favour of McDougall, while 46 have favoured Danny Lugay, a candidate who will contest under the banner of the United Workers Party.

With the data, it has been showcased that around 67.6% of the residents of the Roseau North have supported DLP and want to give them the power once again. On the other hand, around 32.4% of the voters have favoured UWP for September 7 elections.

Both of the candidates have launched their campaigns in the constituency, outlining their vision for the betterment of people. McDougall who has replaced Mariam Blanchard under the banner of DLP to contest the elections also outlined her vision for the constituency.

She shared her vision and said that she will work for the improvement of roads, parks and water storage capacity. McDougall also outlined her intention for community clean-ups, drainage solutions, community development and environmental protection.

During her campaign, she said that Roseau North will undergo major infrastructure upgrades, aiming to empower people, youth by providing them jobs and other opportunities. In addition, she also aimed at modernising fishing, enhancing hillside tourism, working for better waste management and providing fisher support and facilities.

Under her campaign, "Ashma will deliver,” she aims to enhance every sector including education, infrastructure and healthcare. She also aimed at working for community development, traffic and parking management, youth and sports facilities and better sidewalks.

Now, people are waiting for September 7 polls as UWP and DLP will contest elections for the constituency after Miriam Blanchard resigned from her position due to personal reasons.
