British Airways is set to expand its services to Barbados from October 25, 2026, with a new London Gatwick service expected to significantly increase passenger capacity during the winter season and into summer 2027.

The expansion has been welcomed by Barbados Tourism officials, who say the additional flights will improve access to the island for visitors from the United Kingdom and other international markets.

Barbados Tourism has welcomed the historic expansion. From October 25, London Gatwick will start a service which will compliment the already existing Heathrow Flights this winter season. This will bring the total daily direct flights from the UK to Barbados to three. This will be the first time there will be three direct flights from the UK to Barbados. The Gatwick service will continue into summer 2027.

The enhanced service could deliver more than 120,000 additional seats annually. The continuation of the Gatwick services into the summers will create for British Airways the first ever double-daily service to Barbados. The additional summer services will also provide greater and easy access to Barbados’ calendar of events like the Crop over Festival, Barbados Ninja Throwdown, Dive Fest and Rally Barbados. “Ensuring Barbados remains accessible to our valued UK visitors is our top priority. This expanded partnership with British Airways also ensures fantastic options for connectivity, providing more opportunities for travellers from all regions of the United Kingdom, Europe, the African continent, the Middle East and beyond”.

The Gatwick flight will operate as a shared service with Guyana, Tobago or Grenada on six days of the week, while on Wednesdays there will be flights to Barbados. The increased capacity shows increased demand for Barbados as a travel destination. This expansion is a part of a strategy to increase tourism in Barbados and improve Barbados and UK relations.

British Airways has continued its services to Barbuda for 72 years now and till date continues to operate flights between the two countries.
