Antigua and Barbuda: Woman killed, two injured in Cashew Hill shooting

Antigua and Barbuda: A woman was shot and killed while two other people were injured after gunmen opened fire on a home in Cashew Hill during the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

The shooting occurred at a residence on Joseph Road at approximately 12:26 a.m., according to preliminary reports.

Several shots were heard by the female occupant on the eastern section of her home. Police officers from several divisions responded to the scene.

It is alleged that several spent shells were recovered on the ground near the eastern section of the house and inside the residence. This shooting incident follows another incident that occurred Monday night where a 20 year old woman was killed, and two people were hospitalized who got injured during the shooting.

Investigation is ongoing even as two suspects have been detained and a third one is being searched regarding Monday’s incident. A 20- year old Cashew Hill man Jaquan Shaw has been remanded to police on murder charge following a shooting that killed a young woman and injured two people.

He was not granted bail because of the nature of charges. Police say several people were inside when three masked-men entered and opened fire. Authorities have not disclosed if the shooting is connected to the earlier incident. Police have confirmed that investigation into both incidents was ongoing.

An overseas surgeon is expected to travel to Antigua and Barbuda to assist doctors treating the 13 year old Joshua Meade, who was shot in the face. However, no details about the surgeon have yet been disclosed.

The surgeon is expected to work together with the regional healthcare professionals. Meanwhile, Jaquan Shaw has been charged with Murder and attempted murder. The offences are alleged to have occurred at Bathlodge at approximately 1130 pm on Monday. Police found the 20 year old Saquania Anthony dead due to multiple gunshot wounds.
