Jamaica shines as 3 women advances to 100m hurdles semifinals at Paris Olympics 2024
3 women athletes from Jamaica qualifies to semi-finals in the women’s 100m hurdles event at Paris Olympics.

Jamaica: Jamaica shines at the Paris Olympics 2024 as all three of the Jamaican athletes have qualified their women’s 100m Hurdles for the semi-finals. The players named Ackera Nugent, Danielle Williams, and Janeek Brown showcased deep enthusiasm and passion leading them to victories.
All three players competed in the heats to reach the semi-finals in the Stade de France this Wednesday morning. Out of all, Williams showcased the best performance as she outshined as the fastest finishing at just 12.59 seconds.
William missed a short call on losing to Sarah Lavin of Ireland as she was her closest competitor who ended at 12.74 sec and Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland coming third in the position by clocking 12.81 seconds.
Ackera Nugent, another Jamaican athlete who qualified for semis is among the most lauded to win the event as she scored her season’s best of 12.28 seconds. However, in her fifth and final heat, she took 12.65 seconds to complete the race.
Nungent was followed by a Bahamian athlete Deynne Charlton as she scored 12.71 seconds and Grace Stark of USA who clocked 122.72 seconds, grabbing second and third position respectively.
Janeek Brown, and the final athlete qualified for Women’s 100m from jamaica grabbed third postion in her heat but showcased great performance as she clocked 12.84 seconds. Brown followed Tobi Amusen, who grabbed first performance by clocking 12.49 seconds and Allaysha Johnson who came second by completing the run at 12.61 seconds.
The semi finals for women’s 100m hurdles are scheduled to take place on 9th August 2024; however, the finals are scheduled for 10th August 2024. This is to be noted that, out of all the heats conducted, Peurto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn emerged as the ruling queen and is a strong competitor to all as she scored the best in heats with just 12.42 seconds.
Jamaica has so far achieved 4 medals at the Paris Olympics including 3 silvers and 1 bronze medal. The steadfast dedication and performance of the three women athletes in 100m hurdles showcase their dedication and lightens hope to Jamaicans for more medals from the Olympics.
