Jamaica: A 35-year-old male suspect who was arrested by the police department in a case of assault against a female victim in the locality of Gibraltar, Saint Ann, was charged. The accused was laid with the relevant charges of assault in the case on Tuesday, 30 July, by the authorities. The suspect is scheduled for an appearance in court to face legal proceedings in the assault case.
The accused man in the case of assault on a woman of Gibraltar in the Saint Ann parish of Jamaica is identified by the law enforcement officer. The suspected man is mentioned in the police reports as a resident of the Clarendon parish, whose documented name is disclosed as Shawayne Elliot. Shawayne Elliot is identified as a mechanic by his profession, who lives in the Bydale district, Milk River.
As per the reports about the Gibraltar assault case, the illegal act was recorded in the locality this month on Saturday, 13 July. The accused man was in the locality of Saint Ann along with the victim woman, when the unlawful act took place on the day. It is said that the situation turned against the victim following an argument between both sides, after which the man started assaulting and threatening the lady woman.
It is mentioned in the details given to the police by the victim lady that the assault took place during the early hours of the at nearly 01:45 am. The involved man and woman got involved in a verbal dispute, which later got hyped up, and the man turned against the victim. It is said that the man threw some kind of liquid substance on the woman as he took an aggressive approach.
Subsequently, the accused man got armed with a knife which he pulled and pointed against the victim woman. The situation led the victim to be fearful for her safety for the time; anyhow, the woman was able to make her way out of the situation, after which the complaint was filed to the police department against Shawayne Elliot.
The police department recorded the statement of the complainant woman about the act of assault against her in Gibraltar after which the investigation was started. On Tuesday, the police officers managed to take the accused man into custody after he was arrested in connection with attacking the woman. Eventually, the man was charged with assault at common law and scheduled for trial in parish court on Monday, 19 September.
