DJ Bravo announces retirement from CPL, plays his final tournament

The star player for Trinbago Knight Riders, Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) marking the 2024 season the last for him.

DJ Bravo shared the information about his retirement over his official social media account, where he highlighted his journey as a memorable one.

Bravo in his social media post noted, “Today, I am announcing my retirement from CPL. This season will be my last one and I look forward to playing my final tournament with my Caribbean people, where all my journey started and it will end here with my team which I built from scratch.”

The 40-year-old Trinidadian player made the announcement public just before the opening game of CPL 2024. Bravo, often remarked as the highest wicket-taker has significantly shown an outstanding performance throughout his career.

The all-rounder player has to date won five CPL titles including three with Knight Riders, one with T&T Red Steel, and one with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

During his career, the star player also played for the Indian team Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. The star player in CPL history has taken 128 wickets in 103 games estimating an average of 22.40 per wicket.

Notably, Bravo exited from the international Cricket in November 2021 after West Indies played their final T20 match with Australia. This news however has set his fans in a moment of grief and many are thanking him for his contribution to the sport and wishing him success in the future.

“The best CPL bowler ever in history, you are the legend, you will be missed for sure,” another user said.

Stacey Lalchan stated a deep note for the player and said, “DJ you are truly a legendary cricketer thanks for your astonishing and remarkable service for the sport. You are a legend both for West Indies and outside it. We love you.”

“Why I am crying? You definitely be missed. Thank you for all that you’ve done and would continue to do,” said Shin Niece.
