PM Drew recalls his journey on 2nd anniversary of SKNLP’s election victory

St Kitts and Nevis: The St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) on 5th August 2024, celebrated their second anniversary for national election victory. PM Drew on this joyous occasion shared a statement recalling his journey along with other members of the party.

PM Drew, expressed his gratitude to the residents for their steadfast support as he stated “The Celebration is not the reminder of our triumph at the polls, but testament to collective commitment to building a brighter future for St Kitts and Nevis”.

While remembering his achievements and developments that the party has made collectively, he initiated emphasizing the RESET programme which aimed to bring relief and stimulate economic growth. he addressed the independence 40 workers bonus of EC $1000 that injected EC $45 million to the country’s economy, helping the hardworking citizens of the nation. The programme RESET was designed to focus majorly on clearing outstanding balances and providing appropriate time to clear out the payment instalments.

The Prime minister then recalled the efforts made to make homeownership more accessible and services provided to civil servants and pensioners with an 8% salary hike, while increasing the minimum wage to $430 a week.

PM Drew in response to the pensions given to GAEs noted “Our administration’s significant achievement is the implementation of pensions for Government Auxiliary Employees (GAEs) and other monthly-paid government workers hired on or after May 18, 2012”

“This project demonstrates our commitment to recognising and honouring the efforts of all employees, particularly those who have historically been ignored” he added.

While moving ahead, the PM Drew discussed the developments made throughout the journey in the healthcare sector, stating the addition of new triage officers, upgraded hospital infrastructure, and progress towards a climate-smart JNF General Hospital.

“The administration has passed over 20 key laws, discovered a new water well in Cayon, and initiated the construction of desalination plants. Efforts to tackle violent crime are ongoing, with a call for an inclusive, all-hands-on-deck approach.” PM Drew concluded the projects and initiatives completed, while discussing the ongoing projects.

While concluding PM Drew mentioned the new projects that are planned for the third year and pledged to start the construction of new smart homes, modern Basseterre High School, and MEI Building at JNF General Hospital. He also emphasized the need to renewable energy projects and also ensured sustainability by opening new desalination projects and wells.

Your invaluable assistance and direction have been vital in our success” PM Drew thanked his colleagues while concluding and stated to provide better future to all.
