Tobago: Woman locks herself in washroom after armed intruder enters home

Tobago: A woman locks herself in the washroom for protection after a man entered her home at midnight by breaking glass in Bacolet.

A shocking incident has come to light from Bacolet, Tobago where a woman aged 58 had to lock herself in the washroom for protection after a man allegedly broke the glass and entered her home. At approximately 2:55 am, on October 24,2026, Saturday morning a man wearing white hoodie and carrying a bag along with a firearm broke the lower door of the north direction of the two storey home and entered inside.

Suspecting noises, the woman who is also the owner and only person staying in the house checked the cameras and discovered the man entering the place and immediately rushed to the upper story washroom and locked herself inside for protection. All this happened at midnight- early morning around 2:55 am when the woman after getting inside the washroom called her family, friends and neighbours for immediate help and rescue.

The incident is extremely shocking and surprising because just a few hours before the incident occurred, the woman had resurfaced the entire security system of her double storey home, making sure all the doors and windows are locked and the emergency alarms and digital security systems are functioning.

The digital security system activated and alarms activated and triggered when the intruder smashed the glass of the entry door and the sensors activated which further heightened and triggered the audible security alarm systems in the whole house.

Arriving on the site, the Tobago Police Service rescued the woman locked in the washroom and started their investigations immediately and collected the suspected man’s belongings from the site and is continuing its further investigation operations in addition to the additional assistance of Bacolet community to inform police in case if they notice any suspected person or activity.
