Port Zante is welcoming two major cruise ships on August 20, bringing thousands of visitors and boosting tourism activity across Basseterre.
St. Kitts and Nevis: St. Kitts port is welcoming two major cruise ships at Port Zante today on Thursday, August 20. Star of the Seas and Celebrity Beyond are scheduled to arrive at St. Kitts with thousands of cruise passengers. This will increase activity for taxi operators, tour providers, vendors, restaurants and other tourism businesses.
According to the Port Zante cruise schedule, Star of the Seas is expected to berth from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while Celebrity beyond is scheduled to remain in port from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Star of the Seas is operating a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. It departed from Port Canaveral, Florida, on August 16. It's scheduled to make stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas and Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas before its visit to Basseterre and after that it will return to Florida.
The ship is one of the largest of Royal Caribbean’s fleet and can accommodate several thousand passengers.
Celebrity Beyond is also on an eight-day round trip from Miami. Its itinerary includes stops in the Dominican Republic and Tortola before it arrives in St. Kitts on Thursday. Celebrity Beyond is a 327-metre-long Edge-class ship with capacity of several thousand passengers and crew members.
Before the arrival of both the cruise ships, Rhapsody of the Seas visited Port Zante on Wednesday, August 19. After its latest sailing from San Juan, it included stops in Tortola, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Kitts and St. Croix. It will then return to San Juan on August 22.
Rhapsody of the Seas made several stops at Port Zante, St. Kitts during this summer. It is also scheduled to return to St. Kitts on September 2, 16 and 30. Many passengers have visited Port Zante because of this vessel. They shop for local crafts, souvenirs, perfume and jewellery or take organized tours around the island, giving a boost to the country’s tourism.
With the arrival of the two vessels on the same day, Port Zante and other tourism areas will see significant visitor activity. Passengers will explore St. Kitts before continuing their cruise journey.
