Antigua Cruise Port nominated for Caribbean’s Best Cruise Terminal 2026

Antigua & Barbuda: Antigua Cruise Port has been nominated for Caribbean’s Best Cruise Terminal 2026 at the World Cruise Awards. A total of 10 ports will be competing in the World Cruise Awards 2026. The World Cruise Awards had announced its 2026 nominees on July 2, while voting began on July 13 and officially closed on Friday, August 21.

The winner will be announced at the sixth annual World Cruise Awards ceremony on October 14 at Princess Grand Jamaica in Jamaica. The event will bring together nominees from across the cruise industry. Antigua Cruise Port is seeking recognition in the Caribbean’s Best Cruise Terminal category.

The 10 terminals nominated in the category are:

1. Antigua Cruise Port

2. Grand Turk Cruise Center (Turks & Caicos Islands)

3. Nassau Cruise Port (The Bahamas)

4. Port of Bridgetown (Barbados)

5. Port of George Town

6. Port of Ocho Rios (Jamaica)

7. Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago)

8. Port of Willemstad (Curaçao)

9. Port St. Maarten

10. Ports of Out Islands (Bahamas)

The nomination comes as Antigua Cruise Port continues to develop its facilities after several years of investment in the country’s cruise sector. Global Ports Holding began operating in October 2019 under a 30-year lease agreement with the Government of Antigua & Barbuda.

A major development was the completion of the port’s fifth berth in 2020. The 700-foot pier allows the facility to accommodate some of the largest cruise ships and has increased the capacity of the port to serve more than one million passengers annually.

Antigua Cruise Port also unveiled a new cruise terminal in January 2026. The facility aims to support cruise passenger operations and the country’s plans to expand its role in the homeporting market.

Gasper George, General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port, said that the nomination reflects more than the development of the physical facility.

He also pointed towards the wider group of people involved in the cruise experience, which includes transportation providers, tour operators, vendors, restaurants and other tourism businesses.

The country has also been nominated for Caribbean’s Best Cruise Destination 2026 in the World Cruise Awards.
