Antigua and Barbuda, Azerbaijan sign visa-exemption agreements at UNGA81

Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda and Azerbaijan have signed two agreements removing visa requirements for eligible diplomatic, official/service and ordinary passport holders.

The agreements were signed on September 25, 2026, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York.

The agreement was signed between Antigua and Barbuda’s minister of Foreign Affairs E.P Chett Greene and Azerbaijan’s minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov in a short ceremony on the sidelines of the UNGA session. Antigua and Barbuda has deepened its diplomatic ties with the Eastern European country Azerbaijan.

The agreement was a part of productive week led by minister EP Chett at the 81st UNGA session. By signing of this agreement, the citizens of both the countries can travel to each other’s country without the prior requirement of a visa.

Both sides discussed their current status of bilateral relations, deepening their political dialogues, and increasing their mutual visits. Till now, visas were mandatory if citizens had to travel to any of these countries.

The agreement was amongst the top agendas which Greene had during the ongoing UNGA session. The agreement was signed to do away with the visa requirements for citizens having diplomatic, official passports, as well as for ordinary citizens.

Various issues of mutual interests concerning both countries were discussed in detail. The agreement marks another attempt to deepen ties between both the countries.

The other two countries with which Azerbaijan entered into an agreement are St. Kitts and Nevis, and Dominica. With this agreement, tourism is expected to get a boost along with boost to people-to-people ties.

The other agendas which were on top priority of Greene were hosting of Commonwealth Heads of Government; holding bilateral meeting with the Foreign minister of Singapore to discuss a range of issues.
