St. Kitts and Nevis: 37 students head to Taiwan for University studies

St. Kitts and Nevis: A second group of 12 students from St. Kitts and Nevis have arrived in Taiwan to begin their university studies under the country’s 2026 Taiwan scholarship programme. 37 students received the scholarship this year and the last batch consisting of 12 students arrived on August 24. Now, they are heading to their respective universities to pursue their studies.

The arrival of the students was announced by the St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in Taiwan. The Embassy welcomed the students in Taiwan after their journey. Donya L. Francis who is the Resident Ambassador and the members of the Association of St. Kitts and Nevis to Taiwan were also at the airport to receive the students.

In a social media post, the embassy said that the students have arrived safely and they are ready to explore Taiwan and pursue their studies.

Public Infrastructure Minister Konris Maynard also confirmed that the students safely arrived in Taiwan through a Facebook post. He wished the students success for their future as they are going to pursue their studies in Taiwan.

The first batch of students left St. Kitts and Nevis on August 22. The Resident Ambassador of Taiwan, Edward Tao was at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport to see them off before their journey. The students are now set to pursue their tertiary education in Taiwan.

The two groups that departed from St. Kitts and Nevis in two batches, together make up the largest single-year Taiwan scholarship cohort from the Federation. Twenty-eight students received Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarships. And nine students received awards through Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund programme.

The recipients of the scholarship were formally recognised in St. Kitts on August 8 during a ceremony. The awards will allow the students to pursue higher studies in Taiwan in different fields of education.

Now, the 12 students will join the first group that arrived in Taiwan earlier as a part of the 2026 scholarship programme and will begin their tertiary studies in their respective universities.
