Women athletes from Caribbean advanced to semi-finals at Paris Olympics 2024
5 Caribbean women track and field athletes qualifies for women’s 100m category semi finals scheduled for Saturday.

Caribbean athletes demonstrated great enthusiasm showcasing their talent in the heats of Women 100m category at Paris Olympics. 5 athletes from the region have been qualified for the semi-finals of Olympics which are scheduled for 3rd August 2024.
Tina Clayton, Shashalee Forbes and Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce are the top 3 Jamaican athlete, who got qualified for the semi-finals round. Accompanying them will be Trinidad and Tobago’s, Leah Bertrand and Saint Lucia’s, Julien Alfred. The Olympics players showcased a deep-rooted passion for their sport in the heats and are all set to compete in the semi-finals with several other players across the world.
Notably, Tina Clayton qualified for the semi-finals in heat 4 by securing second position with just 11 seconds. Another Jamaican player Shashalee Forbes and Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce secured their sports in semi finals by competing in Heat 6 and Heat 8 respectively. Both the players secured second position in their respective heats with a time of 11.19 and 10.93 seconds respectively.
Leah Bertrand from Trinidad and Tobago advanced by securing 3rd position in heat 6 with a time of 11.27 seconds. Moreover, Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia secured first place in the heat 2 and advanced with an impressive time of 10.95 seconds.
On the other hand, several other Caribbean players also participated in the event however a disappointment landed their ways. Barbados Tristan Evelyn finished 6th with a time of 11.55 seconds in heat 1. Michelle-Lee Ahye of Trinidad and Tobago placed 4th with 11.33 seconds in Heat 2 of Olympics, narrowly missing qualifications for semi-finals. Heat 7 was a disappointment for Grenada as it got placed 8th with a time of 11.70 seconds ending her dreams for a medal this year.
The finals for the event however will take place on 4th August where the winners from the semi-finals will compete for the title this year.
