Football fans are in shock as Diogo Jota, the renowned player playing for Liverpool and Portugal as a forward player has died in a car accident in Spain. The player who was just 28-years-old died early Thursday morning during a crash which took place at the A-52 motorway near Sanabria, in the Zamora province of Spain.
As per reports, Jota was travelling along with his younger brother when this accident took place. The vehicle slipped off the road and immediately caught fire. Both the brothers were not able to escort themselves out and died in the massive blaze which also set the surrounding vegetation on fire.
Jota notably married her longtime partner Rute Cardoso, just 10 days ago. The couple was however living together for a long time and had three children together. Jota’s death has shocked everyone across the football industry and his fans.
While his family has not yet released any officials statement related to the incident, his fans are mourning his death on social media extending their condolences to them.
A user named Robel Gnbot wrote, “Eternal rest grant to him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
Another user named Kogodo Augustine said, “Two months ago, he was celebrating the Premier League title with Liverpool. A month ago, he lifted the Nations League trophy with Portugal. Two weeks ago, it was his wedding. And now he’s no more.”
Another fan on Facebook wrote, “Life is just a moment. We don't know when it's gonna end. Let's appreciate every day and every moment.”
He told his wife and children, “I’m going for a ride with my brother, we’ll be back in no time and that’s it”.
"May God protect and guide us all through any move we make. Let Him carry us to wherever destination and bring us back to our families safely. Let us not experience something like this in our lives, in the lives of our loved ones, Amen,” wrote another user on Facebook.
