Roseau, Dominica: David Hoffmann- A Famous Youtuber with 1 million subscribers, had the best experience while eating the fresh seafood and touring the amazing floating bar in Mero Beach in Dominica. In a video posted on his channel @Davidsbeenhere, he explored more of this gorgeous island and all the cool things it has to offer.
While sharing his journey, David Hoffmann explore the sites as follows:
INDEE’S beach bar & restaurant: During his visit, he tried some unique marijuana rum before heading into the kitchen to watch the cooks prepare a buttery coconut milk and mahi mahi curry, grilled octopus, fried taro balls, boiled taro, and fried plantains. The spices and garlic butter in the dishes were outstanding. They also tried a wonderful pina colada.
Floating bar: From the restaurant, Nate, Bongo, and he headed to a floating bar where we had some rum with grapefruit juice and a Guinness Foreign Extra. They enjoyed it with a fresh fish kebab, which also contained onions and bell peppers. It was a great way to end our night!
In this incredible adventure on the island of Dominica, he took a boat ride through the jungle to have an amazing roasted breadfruit and cod breakfast.
Indian river boat ride: YouTuber stated that he was on our 30-minute ride down the Indian River, their captain Eric steered them through the brackish water, where they saw hibiscus plants and bloodwood trees growing along the banks, as well as crabs along the shores.
Bush bar: At the Bush Bar, the cook and bartender Alicia served them with some bush rum. Then, they watched as Alicia and the staff cooked some saltfish, bakes, cocoa tea, and roasted breadfruit, with avocado and cucumber on the side. The crispy and doughy bake, along with the tender saltfish, was excellent, and the breadfruit had a nice, smoky flavor.
David Hoffmann added, “When indentured servants from China arrived in the Caribbean in the 19th century, they brought their cuisine with them, integrating Chinese flavors into a melting pot that also includes Amerindian, Creole, and African influences. Join me as I explore the world of Dominican Chinese food.”
RIVERSIDE INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT & BAR: After watching Chef Steven prepare several dishes in the kitchen, they dove into our incredible Dominican Chinese spread. They brought us potstickers, chow mein, a Szechwan beef bowl, sweet & sour chicken, spring rolls, lobster stir-fry, ginger rum, and fresh passion fruit juice. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful, but the chow mein was definitely one of my favorites.
After arriving in the village of Calibishie on the northeastern coast of Dominica, YouTuber set out with some local cooks and fishmongers to prepare and enjoy an exotic sea urchin dinner at Rainbow Restaurant and Bar.
RAW SEA URCHIN: David Hoffmann headed to the rocky beach, where the sea urchin guy was retrieving them from the water and eating some of them raw. He used a knife to slice it in half, cut off all the spines, and let me try some of it. Then, he also tenderized an octopus against a large rock.
RAINBOW RESTAURANT AND BAR: David Hoffmann cook, Naz, prepared the sea urchin by sauteeing it with diced peppers, green onion, celery, garlic, parsley, cumin, and green seasoning. It was fantastic. Then, they enjoyed a curry octopus made with coconut milk, celery, onions, garlic, peppers, green seasoning, and herbs. It’s fresh, tasty, and tender. Come to this restaurant for great food and incredible people in Dominica.
STEEL DONKEY: Finally, David Hoffmann met with the bartender, Jordan, invited me to have a Steel Donkey, which is a local cocktail that comes in two glasses: a shot in a glass and a beer in a glass. It was powerful and needed the chaser.
