Woman arrested for throwing object on PM Raplh

The Police officials of St Vincent and the Grenadines have arrested a woman for throwing a object at Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves on Thursday.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: The Police officials of St Vincent and the Grenadines have arrested a woman for throwing a object at Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves on Thursday.

Senator Julian Francis informed that a woman was arrested on Thursday night. He stated, “I want to inform you that a woman has been arrested; there may be more.”

Senator Francis noted that the woman wanted to apologise for her deed.

He further added, “She wanted to apologise to the Prime Minister. I said no, she is not going in front of my political leader to do what because you got locked up, you want to apologise.”

Following the statement, He added, “Go and apologise to the leader of the Opposition. Let me tell you something, be careful what you do; social media is watching you; sometimes, it’s better than the police.”

In addition, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves took the platform of social media and stated that he considers this incident as a cause to harm him.

PM Gonsalves asserted, “It is equally culpable: the person who threw the stone as are those who instigate and continue to instigate disgraceful events that threaten my life and the lives of others. There is one person whom I hold responsible, and it is not just the person who did the direct act. We can have our disagreements, but, to cross the line into violence is unacceptable in a democratic society.”

Despite this, the Chairman of OECS and the Prime Minister of Grenada – Keith Mitchell, on behalf of the organisation of – the Eastern Caribbean States, condemned the incident which injured PM Gonsalves.

PM Mitchell further stated that the OECS firmly uphold the tenets of democracy and the right of citizens to protest and to have their voices heard, but the protest must be held peacefully and in accordance with the law.
