Jamaica: Wolmerian Kaheem Lozer became Jamaica to set the fastest high school 50-metre butter time of 25.57. At the 2023 ASAJ High & Tertiary Swim Championships held last weekend Wolmerian Kaheem Lozer recorded the fastest time ever in Jamaican high school history in the 50 metre butterfly.

Lifespan 007 open water swim took to Facebook and shared the update on the achievement of Jamaican Wolmerian Kaheem Lozer. It added, “Wolmerian Kaheem Lozer sets fastest Jamaican high school 50 metre butterfly time of 25.57.”

According to the Lifespan, in the heats of the event he crushed the record of 27.60 to set a new mark with a time of 26.21. In the final he taught the field a sprint lesson, winning by over two seconds to stop the clock in 25.57. That bettered his 2022 Jamaican high school record of 25.71 set at the Mayberry Schools meet.It is also under the Jamaican 2023 CAC (Central American and Caribbean Games) qualifying mark of 25.59.

Lozer has a distinguished age group legacy in the 50 metre butterfly. In 2021 he won the CCCAN 15-17 title in 25.49. In 2022 he became the highest placed male at the World Championships placing 23rd in 25.53.

He will be looking to earn his first senior international cap and be selected for the CAC Games . Being this fast at this stage of the season augurs well for 24 seconds clocking this year or even faster. It took a time of 25.11 to make the B final and 24.67 to make A Final for the 2018 Games in Colombia.

It added that the top three times in the nation for the qualifying period Jan 1, 2022 to April 30,2023 are held by Wolmerians. Graduate Sidrell Williams leads the way with 25.24 and is followed by current students Lozer and Devaughn Robe with their times from the World Juniors of 25.53 and 25.84 respectively.
