Jamaica: As the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season is ongoing across the Caribbean island, along with various countries, Jamaica has also been advised to become cautious and brace themselves for the upcoming rainfall.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service) asserted that from the beginning of Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, the country would witness an increase in rainfall.

As per the Met Service, heavy rainfall is the result of a broad area of disturbed weather currently around the southwestern Caribbean Sea, which is really associated with low pressure.

The service further explained that the trough, which is associated with this low-pressure system, is expected to create and bring unstable weather conditions.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions, which will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms. So, the showers and thunderstorms could be heavy at one time, which will affect sections of most parishes starting Wednesday afternoon through to Thursday.

In addition to that, the Met Service asserted that the strong winds are expected to affect coastal areas, especially the south coast, during this time.

Fishers and another marine inte rests, especially those inshore and offshore the south coast, should exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
