Weather: The weather over Jounen Kweyol Weekend to remain dizzy as the flash flood watches and warnings will remain in effect for some islands of the Caribbean.
The powerful post tropical Tammy is spinning east of Bermuda but it stretches surface troughs of moisture and convergence to the Leewards and Puerto Rico/VI. The pull of tropical moisture by Tammy is also causing it to generally pile up over the East Caribbean and for steering wind flow to be very slow.
A prior tropical wave merged into this complex area last day or two and another surface trough is just east of the Windwards bringing bouts of heavy rainfall. On top of this is a favorable upper pattern with an upper trough NW of Puerto Rico. This is generating scattered moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain in the East Caribbean islands tonight into Friday.
Later on Friday a tropical wave currently north of Guianas near 52/53W will bring more moisture and instability continuing to Saturday. Periods of scattered moderate to heavy showers and rain will impact the Windwards to parts of the Leewards then Virgin Islands and east Puerto Rico under favorable trough pattern and deep moisture.
Rainfall could be intense/very heavy at times and localized flash flooding and mudslides events are possible.
The upper trough starts to weaken a little on Sunday to Monday with slight increase in wind flow but with deep moisture in place, some more light to moderate at times heavy showers can be expected across the islands.
Moisture is also pooling across the central to SW Caribbean Sea and a low pressure is forecast to form south of Jamaica this weekend. The models see a chance of development with this broad system and NHC has 20%. That region may see another broad low try to form in the following weekend too.
The weather advisory that was already in effect for a low risk of flooding for SVG has been upgraded to a Flash Flood Watch. It remains in effect until further notice.
