A tropical wave, with some help from an upper trough, brought times of heavy showers, thunderstorms and periods of rain to the parts of the Lesser Antilles, especially north Windwards.

WEATHER: A tropical wave, with some help from an upper trough, brought times of heavy showers, thunderstorms and periods of rain to the parts of the Lesser Antilles, especially north Windwards.

 Recently heavy rain pockets on Dominica. The ITCZ moisture behind will continue to keep some showers around the Windwards tonight to the morning as most activity spreads to the Leewards, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, thru Wednesday.

A surge in trade winds will bring brief showers late Wednesday in the Windwards, with Saharan dust and breezy conditions coming through till late week.

The next tropical wave will likely reach the islands Saturday. The surface trough in ITCZ will bring scattered showers and a few thunderstorms to Guyana next two days.

A tropical wave is coming into the Lesser Antilles tomorrow, with light to moderate showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms. Briefly heavy with gusty winds. A surface trough ahead of it with ITCZ caused showers in the southern islands earlier Monday.

The saharan air layer will establish from Wednesday to late week. 1 tropical wave is in East Atlantic, and another is coming off Africa. Tropical wave will continue to affect the islands overnight with occasional moderate to heavy showers, gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms.

Leewards will gradually dry out by early morning then north Windwards Tuesday afternoon as dry Saharan air layer settles in. Active tropical wave is producing scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, but so far most of the heavy thunderstorms have been over water. 

Barbados had some squally rainbands and reported sustained winds 33mph with strong gusts to 65mph twice in last hour. Expect the main area to spread to other islands this afternoon with localized flood and strong wind threat. See Sunday night update for more details.
