Dominica: Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency & wife of the prime minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit, extends her wishes on International Women’s Day.

In her message, she said, “Dominica is blessed with strong women who are always prepared to face battles head-on! This current war against the Covid-19 pandemic is no exception! We have seen a number of our Dominican women leading the fight against this virus and for this, we remain eternally grateful.”

She added, “on International Women’s Day, the Bureau of Gender Affairs hosted an awards ceremony to honour our women leaders who actively serve on the front-line against the Covid-19 pandemic. I salute all women who are working exceptionally hard to create a better future for us all!”

“This International Women’s Day, make a pledge to yourself that you will be fearless enough to take risks, be confident and never doubt your capabilities. We must support women’s rights and gender equality. “Melissa Skerrit noted.

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit said, ” I take the time to salute all the wonderful and hard-working women in this country. These women have selflessly led the fight against covid-19, frontline workers, policewomen, nurses, and doctors, who have made exceptional global achievements.”

He added, ” These women avail for national service and dedicate themselves to be warriors for the country, women who work tirelessly to keep Dominica beautiful.”
