Vaccination against COVID-19 starts in Caribbean region

Martinique: Vaccination against the deadly COVID-19 starts in the Caribbean region.Around two hundred and eighty-three people in Martinique got COVID-19 vaccines as of January 7, local reports said.

The Director of the Regional Health Agency of Martinique, Jérôme Viguier, has announced that the number will quickly increase.

According to the agency, the COVID-19 situation in Martinique is now stable. Officials reported eight positive cases last week. But they said there were 88 the previous week. Ten thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccines arrived on the French Caribbean Island on January 6.

Martinique received the vaccines one day before its vaccination campaign officially began. Frontline workers and weak people are on the priority list. However, getting the vaccine is not mandatory, the authorities say. Media reports indicate that to date, 44 people in Martinique have died as a result of COVID-19.

Helen, a local resident, said that we are all eagerly waiting for the vaccine as COVID-19 disturbs all the world. We witnessed with many deaths.

Jay said,” Most Martinique people are just against taking it as the other islands. This was part of the campaign, which ended this week. Mostly health workers were given.”

Conrad, a Martinique resident, said,” good on you, Martinique; as a third world country. Let’s not make ourselves ignorant. The vaccines are not likely to harm you. Take, for example, the vaccine for HPV, which causes CERVICAL CANCER in women. This vaccine has to be taken while women are 13yrs of age to prevent cancer. So let’s not talk about the effects of taking it; in the long run. There are many other vaccines we have to take for things like Polio; when we were a baby. Vaccines; are there to stop you from further troubles with your health. And not to bring discrepancies in your life. The problem is not the vaccine. Our planet earth; is in serious trouble—That’s what we need to focus on right now. For example, an Earthquake can wipe out everything, including humanity, before any vaccine could harm us. We should be very grateful for this Covid-19 vaccine. Trust me!! Sometimes, our negative thoughts would bring us more difficulties than good.”
