West Indies: The University of the West Indies is all set to host Cross Campus T20 cricket tournament on Saturday (September 30, 2023). The tournament will mark the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the university’s five islands campus.

The tournament will be hosted by Faculty of Sport and serve another exciting day of University of West Indies family fun.

The UWI Five Islands Campus invited the people to join a squad and get in the game. The university also invited the people to just come out to cheer on mixed campus teams of staff, students, alumni and celebrity guests.

The cross campus T20 cricket tournament will ask the student to bring their talents to represent the campus squad. Sports have always held a cherished place in the University of the West Indies’ history.  It helps in fostering a sense of community camaraderie among students, staff, and alumni.

As they celebrate The University’s 75-year journey, cricket greats and athletic champions such as Darren Ganga, Jehue Gordon and Michelle Lee Ahye will join The Faculty of Sport for a “75th Anniversary Cross Campus T20 Cricket Tournament.

It is all set to captivate cricket enthusiasts on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at The UWI SPEC in St. Augustine. It will feature five match-up at the tournament.

Five simultaneous match-ups at:

  • Cave Hill Campus—Usain Bolt Complex
  • Five Islands Campus—Dredgers Cricket Field
  • Mona Campus—Mona Bowl
  • St Augustine Campus—UWI SPEC Sir Frank Worrell Field and
  • Global Campus at the UWI SPEC, South Field

The University of the West Indies has celebrated the 75th anniversary on January 7, 2023 under the theme- “UWI at 75. Rooted. Ready. Rising.”

The UWI has earned a place among the top 600 universities in the world since 2018. It was also ranked by the UK-based Times Higher Education, among the top 40 in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The ranking was also among the top 100 Golden Age University rankings in 2020. It is also the only university in the Caribbean to make these prestigious lists.
