US and allies condemns series of ballistic missiles launched by North Korea
Honolulu: The top diplomatic officials of Japan, the United States of America and South Korea has brought it to the consensus on Saturday to stand unified against North Korea after a series of ballistic missiles launched by Pyongyang.
After a day of meetings in Honolulu, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Foreign Minister of South Korea Chung Eui-Yong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa have denunciated the series of seven launches as “destabilizing” in a joint statement.
In a joint statement, they stated, “Pyongyang needs to cease its unlawful activities and instead engage in dialogue.”
At the same time, Blinken addressed the media along with his fellow foreign ministers from Japan and South Korea, using the acronym for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea said that, “The DPRK is in a phase of provocation.”
He added that, “We are continuously trying to find some ways to hold the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea accountable,” while stating the recent sanctions imposed on eight people and the entities tied to the government of North Korea.
The diplomatic officials of the three nations have recited their commitment to denuclearising the complete Korean Peninsula and readiness to continue negotiations with Pyongyang, which has not yet answered to the overtures for talks from the US President Joe Biden led administration last year.
In a joint statement, they said, “The Secretary & the Foreign Ministers focused they held no hostile intent towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and underscored continued openness to meeting with the officials of DPRK without preconditions.”
