T&T records 215 new COVID-19 cases 

The Caribbean island - Trinidad and Tobago on 22 June 2021 has reported 215 new infection cases of the novel coronavirus, as per the COVID-19 update report by the Ministry of Health.

With these new infections, the total number of active cases on the island are 7,954. Since the pandemic started, the country has reporte3d a total of 30,982 COVID-19 cases

So far, the island has reported a total of 761 deaths due to the deadly mutant. 

The report of the health ministry states that a total of 22,267 patients have been recovered from the novel coronavirus, while 419 patients are still in the hospital facility. 

A total of 150 patients are in the step-down facilities, around 233 patients are quarantined in the state-quarantine facilities, and a total of 7,170 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes, as per the health ministry’s report. 

According to the report by the health ministry of Trinidad and Tobago, so far, till 22 June 2021, a total of 179,631 individuals have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine where as a total of 45,567 people have received their second dose of the novel coronavirus vaccine and are fully vaccinated against the deadly virus. 

Till now, in total, 218,568 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which around 91,687 tests of individuals were conducted at the private facilities, and about 126,881 individuals were tested at the public health facilities

The government of T&T has reminded the citizens that they are fully vaccinated only if they have received the required number of doses of a World Health Organisation – WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine and if two weeks have passed since they have received the final recommended vaccine doses.
