T&T records 194 new COVID infections, death toll rises to 1,200

Trinidad and Tobago island have reported 194 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant on 18 August 2021, as per the report of the Health Ministry.

As per the report, there are 5,901 total active cases in the nation. In comparison, a total of 35,326 individuals have been recovered from the contagious COVID-19 virus. 

In total, around 329 people are still in the hospital. The Health Ministry further informed in the report that a total of 1,200 patients have died on the Caribbean island as of 18 August 2021. 

According to the report, there are a total of 99 patients in the step-down facilities, around 114 individuals are in the state-quarantine facilities. A total of 5,279 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as per the data shared in the health ministry’s report of T&T. 

So far, as of 18 August 2021, in Trinidad and Tobago, a total of 461,528 individuals have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas, in total, 339,267 individuals have welcomed their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine and now are fully vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. 

If we look at the statistics of COVID-19 testing, a total of 294,321 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which 126,522 COVID-19 tests were conducted at private healthcare facilities. In contrast, 167,799 people were tested at the public healthcare facilities for the novel coronavirus. 

In their report, the Health Ministry further informed that the new 194 COVID-19 positive cases were taken between 14 August and 17 August 2021. 

As per the report, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Caribbean island has reported a total of 42,427 cases of the deadly virus.
