T&T recorded 89 new COVID cases and 8 deaths

Trinidad and Tobago island have reported 89 new cases of the COVID-19 mutant on 16 August 2021, as per the report of the Health Ministry.

As per the report, there are 5,990 total active cases in the nation. In comparison, a total of 34,777 individuals have been recovered from the contagious COVID-19 virus. 

In total, around 315 people are still in the hospital. The Health Ministry further informed in the report that a total of 1,188 patients have died on the Caribbean island as of 16 August 2021. 

According to the report, there are a total of 94 patients in the step-down facilities, around 126 individuals are in the state-quarantine facilities. A total of 5,492 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as per the data shared in the health ministry’s report of T&T. 

So far, as of 16 August 2021, in Trinidad and Tobago, a total of 454,088 individuals have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas, in total, 320,425 individuals have welcomed their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine and now are fully vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. 

If we look at the statistics of COVID-19 testing, a total of 292,728 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which 126,522 COVID-19 tests were conducted at private healthcare facilities. In contrast, 166,206 people were tested at the public healthcare facilities for the novel coronavirus. 

In their report, the Health Ministry further informed that the samples of these new 89 COVID-19 positive cases were taken between 12 August to 15 August 2021. 

As per the report, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the Caribbean island has reported a total of 41,955 cases of the deadly virus.
