T&T: PM Rowley receives first jab of COVID vaccine 

The Prime Minister of the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago - Dr Keith Rowley, has taken his first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine on 13 July 2021. The prime minister received his first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine at the Diego Martin Health Centre. 

Trinidad and Tobago: The Prime Minister of the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago – Dr Keith Rowley, has taken his first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine on 13 July 2021. The prime minister received his first dose of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine at the Diego Martin Health Centre. 

According to the vaccination statistics, as of 12 July 2021, there are a total of 225,546 individuals who have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is around 16.2 per cent of the total population, whereas a total of 140,568 individuals who have received their second dose of the novel coronavirus vaccine and are fully vaccinated now against the deadly mutant which is around 10.1 per cent of the total population of Trinidad and Tobago. 

So far, till 12 July 2021, there are 5,919 total active cases in the country rise to In comparison, 27,962 individuals have been recovered from the contagious COVID-19 virus. 

The Health Ministry further informed in the report that a total of 941 patients have died on the Caribbean island as of 12 July 2021. 

If we look at the statistics of COVID-19 testing, a total of 245,703 individuals have been tested for the novel coronavirus, out of which 105,525 COVID-19 tests were conducted at private healthcare facilities. In contrast, 140,178 people were tested at the public healthcare facilities for the novel coronavirus on the island.

The Prime Minister of the island has also urged the citizens to follow the COVID-19 guidelines such as – wearing masks, maintaining social distance and sanitizing frequently. In addition, PM Rowley has also encouraged people to take their doses of the COVID-19 vaccines so as to fight and defeat the contagious mutant.
