T&T: 3,719 individuals receive first dose of Sinopharm vaccine

Trinidad and Tobago's Health Ministry shared a media release according to which around 3,719 individuals received their first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine during the first two days of vaccination that is between Friday 21 May and 22 May 2021.

Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago’s Health Ministry shared a media release according to which around 3,719 individuals received their first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine during the first two days of vaccination that is between Friday 21 May and 22 May 2021.

In a media release statement, the ministry of health stated, “Trinidad and Tobago continue to experience high COVID-19 vaccine uptake, which is an important part of moving the nation from the management to the control of the virus, and then eventually returning to a state of emergency.”

The statement further adds, “Even as the number of people vaccinated continue to increase, the public is reminded that the COVID-19 vaccine is just one tool in the fight against the mutant.”

The health ministry, in the statement, further also urged everyone to obey and follow the COVID-19 health guidelines in order to protect themselves and reduce the spread of the virus.

The ministry also reminded the public to stay at their homes unless there is an essential work that is – for work, grocery or pharmacy and especially those who have any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.

The ministry also asked them to separate themselves from their house members to those who show any symptom of the virus and provided a hotline number for them – (800 – WELL or 877-WELL(9355)).

Adding to the statement, the ministry asserted, “The MOH would continue to administer the COVID-19 Sinopharm vaccine to people in phase 1 of the national COVID-19 vaccine deployment plan that is – to people 60 years and above, people under 60 with non-communicable diseases and to the healthcare workers.”

Those who do not fall under the above categories would not be given the vaccine this time.

“All eligible individuals are invited to make an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Sinopharm vaccine using the designated call-in numbers or WhatsApp numbers for the various regional health authorities. A walk-in facility would not be available,” – health ministry.

The ministry further cited in the media release statement that it would continue to update the people of Trinidad and Tobago on the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout development.
