Barbados: The centre of Tropical Storm Cindy was located near 13.9N 50.4W, approximately 615miles (990km) to the east of Barbados at 11 pm. Tropical Storm Cindy is presently moving towards the west-northwest (295 degrees) at 15mph (24km/h) with maximum sustained winds of 50mph (85km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 1003mb.

The model consensus agrees that tropical Storm Cindy will continue to track to the northeast of the island chain, before weakening early next week as it enters an environment of deep-layered shear.

Sea surface temperature has been sufficently warm under Tropical storm Cindy for favourable development. However, there have been decline in the previous structure of Tropical Storm Cindy over the past couple of hours as some dry air has entered into its circulation.

There has been some marginal development in Tropical Storm Cindy over the past couple hours, and it remains in an environment of weak vertical shear with persistent deep convection near the low-level centre.

Keynote:

There are NO watches or warnings for Barbados with respect to Tropical Storm Cindy. In addition, on this forecast track, Cindy will not pose any threat to Barbados.

Public Response:

Due to the location within the Central Atlantic, the public should continue monitoring the updates from the BMS along with postings by GIS and DEM. Earlier, the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has DISCONTINUED THE TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR BARBADOS effective immediately.

Some more heavy showers are around Trinidad’s NE and Tobago, with light to heavy rain more widespread including from Martinique, St Lucia, Barbados and St. Vincent… there few embedded showers. The winds are lighter in those islands with some breaks east.

Additional 1-2 inches rainfall possible thru Saturday. But generally 1/2 inch. By Sunday night to Monday morning trailing trough from Cindy may bring some showers to the Windwards and a Tropical Wave passes Tuesday to Wed.

Barbados had a sustained wind of 44 mph gusting 56 mph in heavy thunderstorms. Castries also had 49mph gust.
