Trinidad and Tobago: The country has been shattered by the sudden demise of the famous Soca singer Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart on Monday, March 27, 2022. The famous Soca singer Stewart has lost his life due to the viral infection of the novel coronavirus. 

Earlier, on Sunday, March 26, 2022, Dexter Blaxx Stewart was exposed to the novel coronavirus, and the news was confirmed by his manager Giselle Gellineay-Penrose. He was only 59-years-old.

Stewart was hospitalized due to the COVID-19 related illness earlier and has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Arima Hospital in east Trinidad. 

However, he was also suffering from various other illnesses such as lung and kidney-related medical-related complications. 

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley, also expressed condolences to his family and loved ones. 

While expressing his sadness, PM Rowley, through his Facebook Post, noted, “Condolences on the Passing of Dexter’ Blaxx’ Stewart, he has been a regular talented exponent of the happy musical culture of Trinidad and Tobago. His contributions were eagerly awaited each year and appreciated by hordes of adoring fans. He will be sorely missed. 

Leader of Opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar also shared a condolences message on her Facebook account. 

Further, the entire Trinidad and Tobago also showed condolences and expressed their devastation after the passing away of a famous singer. They all expressed their sadness over the sudden demise of the singer. 

One of the residents, named Cheryl Celestine Foster, expressed,”Eternal rest be granted upon his soul. He made a sterling contribution to the Art form of Trinidad and Tobago.Sincerest condolences to his bereaved family and friends. I am one of his fans who will surely miss him”. 

Another resident Wendy Cozier Collins added, “Thanking you for your Contribution to the Artform. My Condolences to your family and friends. May your soul Rest In Eternal Peace”. 

Rachel Primus asserted, “Indeed sad….. Legend and Icon will surely be missed, but your music will always live on. Thank you for your great contribution and musical legacy. RIEP Blaxx”. 

Lana Koonj-Beharry noted, “His voice was stronger than some of the younger artistes. Gonna load his tune in on my phone. May he rests in peace, and may God comfort those who mourn his loss”.
