Tremors of earthquake of 3.7 magnitudes felt in St Kitts and Nevis 

The immediate release of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) stated that the seismic activities had affected St Kitts and Nevis, and the NEMA is monitoring reports of an earthquake that was felt earlier this afternoon.

St Kitts and Nevis: The Federation has been affected by the seismic activities as the tremors of earthquake hit the country this afternoon- Saturday, March 25, 2022. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided information about the tremors of the earthquake.  

The immediate release of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) stated that the seismic activities had affected St Kitts and Nevis, and the NEMA is monitoring reports of an earthquake that was felt earlier this afternoon.  

As per the reports, the agency indicated that the tremor was felt around 2: 00 pm by a number of residents island wide.  

Further, the reports of the earthquake have been confirmed by the UWI Seismic Research Centre. It noted that a magnitude of 3.7 earthquakes occurred today that is Friday, March 25, 200, at around 2: 00 pm.  

“UWI Seismic Research Centre Has confirmed reports that a magnitude of 3.7 earthquakes occurred today- Friday, March 25, 2022, at around 2: 00 pm”, the press release of the National Emergency Management Agency reads.  

The tremors of the earthquake have been felt at various locations of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis. 

On March 25, 2022, the location of the earthquake was the Latitude of 17.43 North and at the Longitude was stands at 62.76 West. At the same time, the depth of the earthquake stood at 3 Km.  

The press release of the National Emergency Management Agency has also given an update about the location and depth of the earthquake and stated:

  • Longitude: 62.76 West 
  • Depth: 3km 

The authorities further urged the residents of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis to stay connected with the National Emergency Management Agency and St Kitts and Nevis Met Office to get the information about the earthquake. The authorities are further monitoring the situation of the seismic activities that are affecting the country.  

It further reads, “Residents are asked to stay tuned to the National Emergency Management Agency and St Kitts and Nevis Met Office as we continue to monitor seismic activities affecting the Federation”.
