Serina Aaliyah Laird was born on October 28 2002, in Jamaica.

At the age of eight, she was uprooted from the land of her birth and transplanted here to Montserrat, where she bloomed and blossomed in her new environment.

She excelled academically, graduating from the Montserrat Secondary School in July 2019; first place in her set with seven CSEC subjects, along with awards in numerous subjects and an award for maintaining first place for three consecutive years.

She entered the world of work after Secondary School and pursued part-time studies. She gained three CAPE subject passes at Montserrat Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Law at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. Her goal is to be called to the Bar in Montserrat, where she will serve her community to the best of her ability.

Serina’s motivation to become a lawyer comes from a deep desire to advance social change and justice for all. She believes that all men are created equal and must have equal access to opportunities regardless of differences in race, social class, gender, religion, or even sexual orientation.

While pursuing her studies Serina continues to work full-time as a Clerical Officer at the General Post Office. A post she achieved after performing credibly under the HYPE programme offered by the Department of Community Youth and Sports Services.

Despite her packed schedule, she makes time for her family, friends, and hobbies of cooking, singing, public speaking, event planning, candle making, and pageantry.

She is the eldest of six siblings and works hard to lead by example to let her siblings know that with perseverance, discipline, and faith in the Almighty no dream is too big.

Life hasn’t always been easy for Serina but as a spiritual person, she lives by the mantra that God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers. He has already foreseen her success and will grant her the strength to endure no matter the trials.

Join Serina and the other delegates for the Sashing & Contract Ceremony Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Vue Pointe Restaurant at 5PM. Tickets are available for $50 at the Montserrat Arts Council.
