Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Department announced the chances of thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.

Friday (14th): ITCZ convergence can produce partly cloudy to cloudy periods at times, mainly during the early morning to afternoon, with showers, interrupting the sunshine in varying areas.

There is a medium chance (40% to 60%) for thunderstorm activity to develop in some areas. Generally fair night with brief showers in a few areas. Winds generally from the east to east-southeast.

Saturday (15th): The passage of a tropical wave is expected to produce partly cloudy to cloudy periods, from early morning to afternoon, with showers in varying areas.

There is a medium to high chance (50% to 70%) for thunderstorm activity to develop in some areas. Generally fair night with the chance for a brief shower in a few areas. Winds initially from the east becoming east-northeasterly to northeast from mid-day.

Sunday (16th): Trailing convergence, associated with the passage of the recent tropical wave and the ITCZ, is expected to produce partly cloudy conditions, interrupting the sunshine at times, with mostly light or moderate showers in some areas.

There is a low to medium chance (30% to 60%) for a heavy shower or thunderstorm to develop during the late morning to early afternoon. Generally fair night with the chance for a brief shower in a few areas. Winds mainly from the southeast to east.

Monday (17th): Light or moderate showers in a few areas during the early morning. Mostly fair day.

Low to medium chance (20% to 40%) for a heavy shower or isolated thunderstorm during afternoon. Mostly fair night. Winds mostly from the southeast to east-southeast.

Tuesday (18th): Low level convergence associated with the ITCZ can produce partly cloudy to cloudy periods at times, with light or moderate showers in varying areas.

There is a medium chance (40% to 60%) for a heavy shower or thunderstorm during the late morning to afternoon. Evening and night, isolated showers in a few areas. Winds from east-southeast to east-northeast.

In the event of heavy showers or thunderstorms, street or flash flooding is likely. Winds can become gusty in the vicinity of heavy showers. With any prolonged bouts of rainfall, the risk of land slips or landslides becomes elevated.

Winds: The near surface wind flow across Trinidad and Tobago is moderate at this time and is expected to show a gradual reduction over the weekend. This can at times translate downwards to the surface, to produce breezy to windy conditions, especially in the vicinity of heavy showers and elevated areas.

Saharan dust: Saharan dust is presently in moderate concentrations in the atmosphere. This will be reduced some somewhat to mild to moderate over the weekend.
