Grenada swimmers continue to advance at the CARIFTA swimming championships in Curacao with the team advancing in 8 final events tonight.

Grenada: Team Grenada secured eight final positions in CARIFTA Aquatics Championship 2023, which is taking place in Curacao. Thus far, Team Grenada has done some commendable swims from each swimmer.

Each day several final positions have been obtained. Yesterday, there were eight final positions obtained -seven individuals and the 15-17 Girls’ relay team.

  • Yesterday’s finalists included:

Zeia Ollivierre, Kristin Gresham, Anaika Otway and Jaaziel Francis in their 50 m Breaststroke events,Jacob Collymore in his 200 Freestyle,Sara Dowden in her 200IM and 200 Burrerfly events and the Girls’ 15-17. 

  • Freestyle 4X200 relay.

This morning we saw more remarkable swims which again earned the team 9 advances to this evening’s finals. Considering the small number of athletes comprising the team, points earned are commendable with Grenada occupying second position among the OECS islands.

The following are this evening’s competitors in the finals:

  • Kristin Gresham, Zeia Ollivierre, Anaika Otway :100 Breaststroke
  • Jaaziel Francis :100 Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle
  • Maggie Watson :200 Backstroke
  • Tilly Collymore : 400 Freestyle
  • Jacob Collymore: 400 Freestyle
  • The Relay team Comprises:
  • Tilly Collymore
  • Sara Dowden
  • Gabrielle Hyson and
  • Anaika Otway

Exciting swims are expected again from each of these athletes.

Grenada swimmers continue to advance at the CARIFTA swimming championships in Curacao with the team advancing in 8 final events tonight.

Sara Dowden advances in the 200M IM and the 200M butterfly and the girls 15-17 4x200M relay. Zeia Ollivierre, Kristin Gresham, Maggie Watson, Jaaziel Francis and Anaika Otway all advancing in the 50 M breaststroke. Otway, Hyson and Collymore also form part of the 4×200 girls relay team.

Anaika Otway has just swam her way to second position in the 15-17 girls 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:15.74, bettering her time of 1:17.33 from this morning’s prelims, and earning herself and Grenada another podium moment and a silver medal.
