Castries, St Lucia: The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Youth Workers of St Lucia is all set to host a series of summer camps for children within their constituencies, beginning in July.

Firstly, they have been heading to the Castries North and posted a new camp and earlier, they have also hosted the new camp at the Castries Central.

Further, Officials of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports – Saint Lucia, including Minister Kenson Casimir, Permanent Secretary Caroline Eugene and Sports Director, Jim Xavier met with President of the Saint Lucia Chess Federation, Tris-Ann Richards and delegate Andy Alexander on Thursday June 30 2022.

The Saint Lucia Chess Federation will receive support from the Ministry through the National Lottery Authority for participation in the upcoming 44th International Chess Olympiad hosted in Chennai, India from July 28 to August 10 2022. The International Chess Olympiad is a biennial Chess Tournament in which teams from almost every nation come together to compete on one stage.

Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Kenson Casimir, along with Resident British High Commissioner, Lesley Saunders, paid a visit to the national boxing team who will participate in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK, towards the end of July.

The team is due to leave on the morning of Wednesday June 29, and they are supported by the Boxing Association, Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, and St. Lucia Olympic Committee. They will undergo acclimatization and conditioning ahead of the Games. 

Casimir says the entire Cabinet of Ministers is supportive of the team.

“We are already proud of you all. You have the support of 180 thousand people who live here. Just keep that mental strength and you will achieve your goals,” the Minister said.

The team members are, Leran Regis, Kyghan Mortely, and Arthur Langelier.
