St Lucia outbreaks with 216 new cases of COVID-19

St Lucia: St Lucia records coronavirus blasts from the 21, 2021 to January 29, 2021. with 216 new cases & 2 new deaths.

Health Ministry of St Lucia notified that eight COVID infected people had been recovered, the total number of live cases in the country to 769. 

A COVID patient in the Intensive Care Unit is now stable, and he is in the ordinary observation under the health experts, two new COVID patient has been put in the ICU. 

All of the cases are Saint Lucian nationals who range in age from 8 years to 82 years, and cases are from all St Lucia districts.

These people were seen at community-based respiratory clinics for assessment and were tested for COVID-19. They were placed in quarantine by health care practitioners while expecting their COVID-19 test results.

The government has made isolation centers for COVID tested people, and the contact tracing team has commenced investigations to identify the contacts of these confirmed cases. 

The new cases now take the total number of patients diagnosed in the country to date to 1411.

A press release by the Health Ministry of St Lucia stated,” With the upsurge in cases, the Government of Saint Lucia is looking at stricter measures to curtail the extent of Covid-19, increase and improve testing capacity, and to ensure there is adequate space for quarantine and isolation.”

It added, “As previously announced by the Office of the Prime Minister, there will be a NEMAC-stakeholders meeting this week to discuss strengthening COVID-19 prevention and control protocols.”

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet urged people to wear masks and use an alcohol-based sanitizer. 

He also requests to maintain social distancing and to avoid contact with other people who have flu-like symptoms.

He also reminds that if anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms must keep away from others and urgently seek medical care at the nearest community respiratory clinic.
