Castries, St Lucia: The Ministry of Health Wellness and Elderly Affairs recently held a one-day men’s retreat for the male staff of the Respiratory Hospital at Auberge Seraphine on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. 

This retreat was put together as it provided an avenue for men to discuss the obstacles and challenges that they have faced daily, such as sexual health, peer pressure, mental health, and the list goes on. This was a great initiative as it gave insight to men into methods to cope with these daily challenges.

COVID-19 update in St Lucia: 

On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in total, 23 new cases of the viral infection of SARS-CoV-2 were reported in St Lucia, as per the reports of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs. These samples were processed on Monday, May 2, 2022, from a total of 116 samples. 

With the emergence of the new COVID-19 cases, the number of positive cases of all the samples processed stood at 19.8 per cent. The number of the confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus reached 23,482 with the positivity of the new samples. 

AS per the status of recovery, the health ministry reported that a total of 14 people have recovered from the COVID-19 deadly infection. The number of active cases stood at 178 in St Lucia. Out of the total active cases, two cases are admitted to the Respiratory Hospital of St Lucia. 

The vaccination status has also witnessed improvement in St Lucia. Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs reported that they had vaccinated a total of 53,575 people. The number of partially vaccinated people against the COVID-19 pandemic stood at 5,322. 

On the other hand, a total of 7,272 people have received the booster shot against the COVId-19 pandemic. 

Further, the authorities and health ministry encouraged the citizens to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
