Saint Lucia: Richard Frederick, the Former Castries Central MP, recently disclosed that his individual participation in the upcoming general elections holds two objectives. Frederick filed his nomination papers on Friday as an independent candidate for the constituency in the July 26 general elections.
While talking to a local media, he stated, “One objective is to get rid of PM Allen Chastanet, Guy Joseph & the rest of their conspiracy.” He added that he sees and would introduce SLP Leader Philip J. Pierre as the next Prime Minister of St Lucia.
On being asked that whether he would work as an independent candidate or as part of a labour administration, Frederick replied that he would be able to answer that after the elections or probably on the night of the general elections. He further added that he is inclining towards the SLP -Saint Lucia Labour Party.
While talking about PM Allen Chastanet, the former MP cited, “He is a spendthrift, he does not care, he does not like people of our colour, and I make no bones about that, through a lot of things he has said and done one can understand that this is his leaning,” as per the St Lucia times media house.
“PM Chastanet takes everything from us and gives it away to those foreigners and leaves us deprived,” he further added.
The former MP talked about the Distress Fund and stated that Distress Fund was established by Sir John (Compton) with the motive to support people who have uninsurable houses.
Following the statement, he added, “But there is no Distress Fund, so people have to go and look for money all over the place, whereas government could have tapped into those resources easily and quite quickly address the problems of those people who were impacted.”
Frederick would seek to unseat the holder Sarah Flood-Beaubrun in Castries Central. The former MP seems to be confident that he would appear as the winner when the votes would be counted.
