Castries, St Lucia: The preparation for the Carnival of St Lucia 2022 has been started in the country, which will take place on the 14th-1st July 2022. The Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries and Culture Information and Member of Parliament of Castries, Ernest, has informed that the preparation of the Carnival is stared and stated that discussions have been going on to host a safe and feasible Carnival.
While outlining the work associated with the Carnival 2022, Ernest Hillarie noted, “Happening now Working session with Carnival Stakeholders to discuss a feasible and safe way to host Saint Lucia Carnival 2022”.
The Carnival of St Lucia has been used to depict the vibrant and rich culture of the country, and it also shows the magnificent beauty of St Lucia.
In the Carnival, various events and activities have been taken place, which includes the Parade of the Bands, Road March Competition and Panorama Steelpan Competition etc.
Carnival plays a significant role as it boosts the tourism sector of the country. People from various regions and countries visited St Lucia to admire the beauty of the country.
However, due to the ongoing pandemic of the viral infection caused by the novel coronavirus, various events related to the mass gathering have witnessed huge postponement which somehow strangled the tourist activities in the country.
So, the return of the Carnival plays an important role to boost the tourism sector, which could be beneficial for the economy of the country.
The Carnival of St Lucia generally takes place on the capital of the island called Castries and at its surrounding area like Gros Islet. However, the exact location of the event could be varied as per the situation, and t could have occurred at a place such as Reduit Beach, Rodney Bay Marina and Pigeon Island, as these locations always resemble the theme of the Carnival.
During the Carnival, the country witnessed parties everywhere. The vents of the Carnival also included fish fries to jump ups, rich cultural celebrations and vibrant music festivals. It also consists of various other activities such as colourful parades, elaborate costumes, wild fetes, pageants, conga lines, non-stop dancing, mouth-watering street food, awesome entertainment, nightly costumes and free-flowing rum!
