The Housing Revolution in St Kitts and Nevis has continued since 2015 as 15 families have officially received keys to their new Petrocases homes, constructed at Mansion village. On Friday, February 18, 2022, the team unity of the country has hosted the key handover ceremony, and Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris himself handed over the keys of the houses to beneficiaries.
The houses were constructed at the Consiututnecy of Mansion village for the people who are in need of the homes, and the authorities have given the hoses to the deserving families in the ceremony.
The key handover ceremony was attended by the Parliamentary Representative for the area and Minister of Human Settlement, Eugene Hamilton, on Friday in St Kitts and Nevis.
While expressing his pleasure, PM Harris in the ceremony underscored,” Today, I am pleased to participate in this historical distribution of 15 petrocases homes to families who really need them. I have come to commend the beneficiaries for starting their new life”.
He further commented that this is a fresh start for the future of the beneficiaries and a fresh start for freedom from reasonable landlords who collect the rents but do little repairs and noted,” The beneficiaries have a fresh start for a beautiful home, in which they could make the memories with their families”.
PM Harris also applauded the various project manager and contractors for their hard work and efficient work in bringing 15 keys into a reality.
Further, the houses were constructed by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, under the Petrocarible arrangement, and further, they have donated the Petrocases houses to the government of St Kitts and Nevis. The government of St Kitts and Nevis has handed over the homes located at Mansion Village to the deserving beneficiaries.
St Kitts and Nevis government further provided te pictures of the scenes and noted,” Today’s ceremony where 15 Petrocasas houses, located at Mansion Village, are being handed over to deserving families in Constituency”.
Earlier, the National Housing Corporation (NHC) has also constructed the 504 homes in St Kitts since 2015 to aid the general public and fulfil their basic need of houses.
While informing about the key handed over the ceremony, Prime Minister Timothy Harris, through his Facebook post, cited,” It was a proud moment for all as we handed over the keys to new homes. We’re live for the Petrocasas Homes Handover Ceremony”.
Petrocasas are the houses which are also known as oil homes, and it was constructed with the by-products of Venezuela’s oil refining industry and PVC panels are fitted together with the concrete base including steel and iron girders to make the petrocases.
