St Kitts: The Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment of St Kitts have been rolling out its Christmas Community Cleanup Campaign during the weeks leading up to Christmas. The initiative will be held from December 9 to December 18, 2022.

Dr Joyelle Clarke also shared the schedule of different communities and stated that it aims to not only address environmental matters but also to stimulate economies within the communities by utilizing service providers like landscapers, bin disposal companies, heavy machine operators and truckers within each constituency.

The Cleanup is a joint effort among Parks and Beaches, the Skills Training Empowerment Program (STEP), and the Alternative Lifestyle Program.

There will be free access to bins. The areas will be verges, beaches, cemeteries, green spaces and inner communities. The schedule of the weekends will be yard clean up and household junk removal.

The cleanup campaign will be doing the following:

  • Furniture removal
  • Yard waste
  • Appliances removal
  • Trash Hauling
  • Yard Clean up
  • Garbage Disposal

Joyelle Clarke cited, “Look at the list and see where in your area, bins will be located. Trucks will take your garbage and white goods (fridge, stove, etc) to the bins or you have the option to take them.”
