St Kitts hosts Giant Malt Combined Zonal Championship, know results

St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts Department of Sports hosted the Giant Combined Zonal Championship on February 18, 2023 at Kim Collins Stadium. The championship was held in partnership with Giant Malt and the start time is 2: 00 pm.

The results after 3: 00 am to 4: 00 pm are as follows:

  • Basseterre Zone secured eight gold medals, five silver medals and four bronze medals.
  • East Zone 2 secured four gold medals, eight silver medals, and two bronze medals.
  • West Zone secured two gold medals, one silver medal, and four bronze medals.
  • East Zone 2 won one gold medal, one silver medal, and five bronze medals.

The results after the 200M Hurdles: 5: 43 pm are as follows:

  • Basseterre Zone won fourteen gold medals, 12 silver medals, and seven bronze medals.
  • East Zone 2 secured nine gold medals, 13 silver medals, and five bronze medals.
  • West Zone won five gold medals, four silver medals, and seven bronze medals.
  • East Zone 1 won two gold medals, two silver medals, 12 bronze medals.

The final count results of the St Kitts Combined Zonal Championship are as follows:

  • Basseterre Zone won 18 gold medals, 12 silver medals, nine bronze medals.
  • East Zone 2 secured 11 gold medals, 18 silver medals, six bronze medals.
  • East Zone 1 secured five gold medals, five silver medals, nine bronze medals.
  • West Zone won four gold medals, four silver medals, 15 bronze medals.

The Championship is aimed to provide a platform to the students from the recently concluded Zonal Championships to enhance their skills and personal bests for the various track disciplines. The admission fee for the championship is $25.00 KCP and the regular admission is as follows:

  • $10.00 was implemented for the adults for the championship
  • $5.00 was implemented for the children for the championship

“The Department of Sports has restructured its Zonal Championship over the last three years, revamping competition into four zones, as opposed to three in previous years. This Giant Malt Combined Zonal Championships allows for athletes to get maximum preparation, in track events only, ahead of other primary school championships,” Timothy Morton, Athletics coordinator at the Department of Sports, disclosed.

Samal Duggins- Minister of Agriculture of St Kitts and Nevis invited the citizens to the Combined Zonal Championship. He stated,” Who will emerge champions?”

Samal Duggins invited the citizens and added,”Join us TODAY at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium for the Department of Sports Giant Malt Combined Zonal Championship.”
