We are 91 years old and going strong. The foundation on which our party is built is irrevocable. We have an international responsibility.”
He said that the party has always followed the principle of social justice, freedom of people, and development and worked for the strengthening of the educational system, universal health care system and socio-economic aspects. Speaking on the climate issues, PM Drew stated that they are contributing less attention to the climate devastation as the temperature is expected to rise above 1.5 degrees Celsius, which means stronger hurricanes.

Outlining his accomplishments, PM Terrance Drew stated that St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party administration introduced the five per cent interest student loan. However, if their parents can’t afford it, they don’t have to pay any interest and when they come back, that fifteen thousand dollars that would have been accumulated is a credit for them. It’s totally wiped off, but it was not enough. They went further, and reduced existing student loans from nine per cent to 5 percent. So it means, therefore, that those who are paying 9%, come the first of June, will be paying 5 per cent and saving hundreds of dollars that they can use in another developmental activity.
Talking about the housing revolution, PM Drew stated that they will build houses here in St Kitts and Nevis and added,” I am determined. The cabinet is determined. The ministers of Labour are determined that we must sit down in the tripartite committee, which would include the union ourselves and those in the business community so that we can negotiate and reach a rate that will be fair to those who need an increase in the minimum wage and all that we have done in less than a year.”
