St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis welcomed global support and development with the Humanitarian vessel MV Dawn earlier this morning on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

Members of Cabinet, the diplomatic core, the St Christopher Air & Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA) and other representatives from the local business community witnessed a vibrant burst of cultural warmth at the Arrival Hall at Port Zante to celebrate the new collaborative journey between the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and Global Support and Development.

It is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to rapidly respond to disasters in collaboration with at-risk communities and support them to prepare for future disasters.

The relationship between GSD and St. Kitts and Nevis aims to strengthen the Federation’s ability to cope with natural disasters while applying efforts that will enhance coordination and resource mobilization, enabling timely and effective responses to natural hazards.

A number of capacity-strengthening exercises are scheduled to begin on the island as of next week, including a comprehensive baseline bathymetric survey, which will assess the characteristics and profile of the seabed.

This survey will enable data-driven decision-making and pave the way for effective coastal resource management and rapid post-disaster assessment.

Also, present at the welcoming ceremony was the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, alongside GSD’s CEO, Dr Michael Court.

SCARPA takes the opportunity the extend sincere gratitude to GSD for the commitment of friendship and service towards the people of St. Kitts and Nevis as critical partners and to ensure the maximum sustainability of the lives in our Federation.
