St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew announced that the sitting of the National Assembly will convene at the Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis on Thursday, 25th May 2023, at 10:00 am.
PM Terrance Drew took to Facebook and outlined the eight bills which will receive their first reading, and two will receive their second reading. He stated that the Government’s good governance legislative agenda continues as it commits itself to transparency, accountability, and the Rule of Law. Eight Bills will receive their first reading, and two will receive their second reading.
He said, “The sitting of the National Assembly will convene at the National Assembly Chambers, Government Headquarters, Basseterre, on Thursday, 25th May 2023, at 10:00 am.”
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew will seek to leave to introduce and read for the first time the Bills entitled Smoking (Designated Areas) Bill, 2023; Drugs (Prevention and Abatement of the Misuse and Abuse of Drugs) (Amendment) Bill, 2023; and Rastafari Rights Recognition Bill, 2023.
He said that Attorney General and Minister responsible for Justice and Legal Affairs, Garth Wilkin, will seek leave to introduce and read for the first time the Bills entitled Nevis Island Administration (Civil Proceedings) Bill, 2023; Crown Proceedings (Amendment) Bill, 2023; Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 2023; Unauthorized Disclosure of Official Information Bill, 2023; Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
The Attorney General will also move the second reading of the Nevis Island Administration (Civil Proceedings) Bill, 2023, and Crown Proceedings (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Our Cabinet Colleagues will lend support to the Bills.

Earlier, PM Terrance Drew addressed the 91st annual national conference of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party on Sunday, 21st May and stated that it was a memorable celebration.
He said, “It was the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party that brought about the very first set of revolutions within the Federation; human rights, housing, jobs, economic advancement, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure; and it will be the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party that will effectively transform the Federation into a Sustainable Island State.”
