The measure was part of the commitment of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis under the leadership of PM Terrance Drew. In order to ease the financial pressures of households, particularly single-parent households with school-aged children, the Government has taken several steps.

Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew said that the Government has been taking efficient steps in food and school supplies. He said, “In an effort to deal with the cost of food and school supplies, your Government will be taking measures to address these issues immediately. This is to ease the burden on our people.”

The Government also announced that the programme will benefit all importers, commercial and non-commercial. PM Drew also met with students of the Deane Glasford Primary School in St. Peter’s.

He said that the initiative will help in uplifting the lives of the people of St Kitts and Nevis. It will also represent one of the tangible ways to support the public in several matters of concern.

He said that the initiative is one of their programmes to provide free tuition for all students at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and free uniforms and textbooks for qualifying households since assuming office. PM Terrance Drew said that no child within the Federation is left behind as education is foundational to their Administration’s Sustainable Island State agenda.
