St Kitts and Nevis: Shawn K Richards- Leader of the People’s Action Movement, outlined his agendas, plans, and policies for determining the developmental path of the different sectors in St Kitts and Nevis if they get elected in the upcoming elections and formed the government.

For Health Sector: Shawn Richards stated

To address the urgent need for medical care, PAM will launch a medicine for the elderly program to provide payment subsidies for essential drugs for the elderly suffering from severe chronic illness.

They will set up a National Council for Senior Citizens in the Ministry of Social Services department whereby senior citizens can access support with in-home help through nurse aides and volunteers who assist with health, personal and domestic needs.

To help prevent further mental health issues among the elderly due to loneliness and Isolation, PAM would look to retrofit some of the community centres and spaces to accommodate Day Care Facilities for the Elderly.

And for the senior citizens who still have so much to contribute, PAM will encourage volunteerism amongst able-bodied retired constituents to be part of the roving care program, help with the meals on wheels feeding programme and assist in the daycare facilities.

Sports sector: Shawn K Richards outlined:

They recognize the power of sports to unify communities, improve young people’s economic conditions and ignite a camaraderie spirit.

But also, if it is sustained, it can rise from the grassroots to national and international levels and continue to put St. Kitts and Nevis on the map.

There is so much raw talent here in St Kitts and Nevis. Young people who dream of becoming the next Kim Collins, Antoine Adams, Jason Rogers, Virgil Hodge, Amya Clarke or Tiandra Ponteen.

PAM want to create an environment where young people are encouraged to pursue sports for fun and fitness, to attain their degree, or as a profession.

A PAM-LED GOVERNMENT WILL INVEST IN AND SUPPORT SPORTS UNDER THESE FOUR PILLARS:

1. Community Building

2. National Excellence

3. Entertainment

4. Economic Empowerment
