St Kitts and Nevis won four silver and two bronze medals in the OCES swimming championships and secured the fifth position.

St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis won four silver and two bronze medals in the OCES swimming championships and secured the fifth position. Antigua and Barbuda emerged victorious in the championships.

Premier of Nevis and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley, commended the performance of the St Kitts and Nevis Swim team at the OECS swimming championships.

The swim championships were held at the Rodney Bay Aquatics Center in Saint Lucia. It is for the first time St Kitts and Nevis swim team has participated in the championships.

OECS swimmers have become club and national coaches, the first-generation swimmers now have kids in the sport representing their respective national teams, administrators and officials have worked their way into high level roles on national sporting committees and have been selected to officiate at world class events. And the icing on the cake is that almost 40 swimmers have competed at the Olympics since the 2000 Sydney Games, and over 15 coaches accompanied them at the most prestigious sporting event on the planet.

OECS Swimming Championships has helped to build a great sense of pride throughout the region to develop champions in the sport of swimming who can compete with anyone in the Caribbean and Central American region and beyond. This event can be credited with creating a Championship mindset amongst coaches, swimmers and parents in the OECS.
